Roberta was the first “plumper” (a term created by SCORE CEO John Fox when he was at the helm of Gent magazine) to jumpstart the now-popular interest in the fuller than full-figured women, later known as BBW’s. Before that time, no one model in Roberta’s body category (and few in her category were photographed anyway) generated such reader interest, bordering on cult status. This long-unseen pictorial of the humongous plumper superstar was shot in 1990 by veteran SCORE contributor James Hamilton. “She was a hair dresser. All the sets I ever shot on Roberta Smallwood were shot in Phoenix, Arizona. That is where she was living at the time. She was always very nice as a person. “
